A Zambian Cyclist in Magoye area of Mazabuka has died after being hit by an over speeding Toyota Corolla vehicle in a road accident.

The fatality is said to have occurred on March 31, 2024, around 14:00 hours at Manyana Primary School turn off along Great North Road.

The driver of the vehicle who has been identified as Mabvuto Ntala aged 39, of Berdlock Woodland in Lusaka who was south bound, hit the Cyclist who was at the left side of the road.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, notes that due to the impact, the Cyclist sustained broken legs and arms and died on the spot, with the bicycle extensively damaged.

Daka adds that the vehicle had its front left Headlamp, Fender bonnet, View mirror, front windscreen and rear left passenger window damaged.

He states that the remains of the deceased were taken to Mazabuka General Hospital Mortuary where while the driver is detained in Police Cells.
