Malawi women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga has engaged extra gear in her chase for the golden boot award in the French Feminine League.
The strike scored a brace as Paris Saint Germain defeated Dijon3-0 on Sunday.
Chawinga scored her first goal of the match in stoppage time of the first half while Marie Katoto was the one who opened the score for PSG in the 13minute.
She completed her brace in the 59th minute after she beat Dijon goalkeeper at the near post.
Tabitha is five goals clear of her closet challenger, Ada Hegerberg of Olympique Lyonnais, in the golden boot race.
Grace Geroyo Tabitha’s teammate is third after scoring 11 goals.
Chawinga wrote on her facebook page that a brace in 3-0 win over Dijon to take her tally to 17.
Tabitha is already equaled the goal tally she scored in her debut season in china. She is six goals away from equaling last year’s goal tally of 23 when she was on loan at Italian side inter Milan Women.
Malawian team has the most assists in the league with 10 this season, one above Clara Mateo and Kadidiatou Diani.
Andrew Chikhosi Silver Strikers Women FC coach praised Chawinga for her exploits in France.
Chikhosi said she has been outstanding since she moved to Europe. Tabitha is a good example of professional player. She’s sure that the majority of upcoming players will emulate her hardworking spirit.
In February Tabitha was named player of the month in the French League.
With four matches to go, PSG are second on the log table with 48 points from 19 matches , seven points behind defending champions Lyon.
