Malawi Police Service (MPS) has said that the country has registered six roads fatalities during the Easter period, from Friday to Sunday.

Alfred Chimthere MPS deputy spokesperson Superintendent confirmed about the six road fatalities.

Chimthere said there were 30 accidents registered, with six fatalities. Last year eleven people died during the same period, which represents a 46 percent decrease in the rate of road accidents.

He also added that the cases include those that were registered on Monday, which was a public holiday in the country.

The country registered 56 road accidents last year during the corresponding period.

MPS has urged road users to be complying with road safety regulations to prevent accidents that can prevented.
