Malawian political activist, Bon Kalindo alias Winiko in comedy circle, has off late become a police customer after being arrested in Lilongwe on Tuesday night.

Kalindo’s arrest is related to offence accused of proposing violence in the recent anti-government protests through his vote note he made.

Spokesperson for National Police, Peter Kalaya has confirmed the arrest and said Kalindo has been granted a bail.

Immediately after granted bail, Kalindo said he is not twitching even this government arrests him 100 times as it wishes.

According to Kalaya, what kalindo said has the great influence of threating national security.

Early, Kalindo led the protests under the banner ‘Malawi First’, demanding answers from government on the prevailing economic hardships following the 44 percent kwacha devaluation.

But the protests ended up in violence with some people damaging property. Police arrested 23 in the old capital city Zomba.

Kalindo, who is also answering another case of illegal power connection, he said that he is not worried or afraid; saying the current regime is falling down.
