Malawi Police Service has assured the communities at Chinseu in Chingale in the area of Sub Traditional Authority Nkapita in Zomba of maximum security following a robbery which occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday last week by some unknown thieves.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Alex Simenti, made the assurance on Friday during a stakeholder’s meeting held at Chinseu Trading Centre in the district and said his office will deploy police officers soon.
Simenti also emphasized on the need of the communities to work hand in hand with the police so that security is guaranteed in the area.
On his part, Sub T/A Nkapita applauded the police for coming to their rescue and asked for an immediate deployment of police officers in the area.
Chingale Community Policing Officer, Asani Juliyo, said they will collaborate with the police once they are deployed so that security is maintained.
According to TWR’s investigations, the thieves who are still at large broke into many houses on the said day and stole a number of properties and money in the area.
Chinseu has been without police unit for close to a year following the closure of the unit and the area has no electricity as of now for almost half a year; a situation that is fueling insecurity in the area
