A third-year Public Administration student at the University of Zambia tragically died after being electrocuted while plugging in her phone.

The incident occurred at October Block 2, Room 23, of the University’s Great East Road Campus.

Margaret Chibesakunda, 22, sustained severe burns on her neck, right elbow, and leg. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries.

Following the event, University of Zambia students demonstrated, obstructing the Great East Road, but police swiftly intervened to restore order.

The police are investigating the incident, ensuring justice is served, and offer condolences to Chibesakunda’s family and friends.
