Police in Rumphi have arrested six people for allegedly assaulting Gilo Kaira and damaging his property over witchcraft accusations.
Rumphi Police spokesperson Sub Inspector Noel Kamchenga says the suspects committed the offence in February this year when the victim’s brother died.
Sub Inspector Kamchenga says the suspects allegedly damaged property including Maize fields, House, killed 10 Goats, Chickens, Dogs and tortured his Children. They are expected to be taken to Court to answer the charge of unlawful wounding and malicious damage.
They are Timelo Kawumba 40, Mwabuwira village, Emmanuel Gondwe 31, Mwabuwira Village, Jack Mughogho 22, Mwaluhembwa Village, Esau Kawumba 40, Wajumi Village and Rainford Luhanga 35, from Jama Village.
The other one is a 16 year old boy, all in the area of Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe.
