Chitipa Magistrate court has convicted and sentenced 23 year-old man to 14 years imprisonment for allegedly defiling a 13 year-old.
State prosecutor Inspector Oscar Mwamutobe identified the convict as Lyson Muyiwanga who committed the offence on 29 March 2024.
According to Mwamutobe, on the stated date, the convict approached the victim when she was going to church for Passover.
When the victim dined the propose, Muyiwanga dragged her in his house for two days and allegedly defiled her.
Appearing court, Muyiwanga accepted the charges and asked court a leniency judgment as he is the one who look for his mother.
In passing judgment, First Grade Magistrate Billy Ngosi ordered Muyiwanga to spend his 14 years in jail for defiling minor.
Lyson Muyiwanga hails from Namuyemba village Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in the district.
