Member of Parliament for Mulanje Bale Victor Musowa said they will request Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to review the process of voter registration as the process will make many people not take part in the next election

He explained this during a three day national sensitization road shows in Mulanje.

The show was to raise awareness for people to go and register and renew the lost National ID’s for them to vote in the next year election

Musowa clarified the development as a failed one because it will hinder many people not to vote because MEC will not allow anyone who do not have the National ID’s to vote

However, Musowa said every Malawian needs to be given the opportunity to vote in the upcoming 2025 elections.

He further explained that the registration has several challenges that will make people not to vote.

“MEC is saying everyone who do not have the National ID will not vote yet the registration centers are not enough, they are sparsely placed, the whole of constituency has only two centers, which is very difficult for people who walks a very long distance to reach the centers for registrations, the Equipment are not working properly.

“We are going to request MEC to review this, if the request will not pass, we will go to court because constitutionally every one above 18 needs to be given a chance to vote,” he said.

The National sensitization Road shows will end on Sunday 21st April, 2024.
