Peoples Party (PP) President Dr. Joyce Banda has accused the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of spreading false information.
Banda made the allegations during a PP rally in Nancholi Township in Blantyre on Saturday.
“Few weeks ago we heard that Malawi Congress Party is receiving the vice-president of the People’s Party, but that vice-president of People’s Party left about two years ago. And we in the North, we have our vice-president Mr. Kawonga.
“So we were shocked, because this happened despite alerting them [MCP] that what you are saying is not true. So for us and that’s what my colleagues were saying they are surprised. We don’t understand the narrative they are pushing,” Banda was quoted as saying.
Joyce Banda went further to claim she does not have any problem with the top leadership but some MCP boot leakers.
Effort to talk to MCP Secretary General on the matter proved futile.
Meanwhile, JB has hinted that she will contest in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
