Police at Jenda in Mzimba have launched a manhunt for unknown criminals, who broken into Hesham wholesale after they had killed a 70 year old watchman, at Embangweni in the district.

Spokesperson for Jenda Police Macfarlen Mseteka has confirmed the development and identified the deceased as Alamu Ngulube who met his fate on 20th April night 2024.

Police have since have established that there are indications that the watchman (now deceased) was crushed by a concrete block in the head and died on the spot.

According to Mseteka, after attacking the watchman these criminals broken into Hesham wholesale shop and went away with five bricks of cigarettes, five packets of (Yummy) biscuits and money amounting to K20,000. Total value of property stolen is K87,250.

The matter was reported at Jenda police station in the morning by the shop manager, after he had learnt about the sad news. Police officers visited the scene and took the body to Embangweni Mission hospital where it was confirmed that the watchman was brought in dead.

Postmortem conducted at the facility, revealed that death was due severe head injuries secondary to assault.

While Jenda Police has launched an intensive manhunt for these criminals, it appeals to the members of the community that whoever has information that would lead to the apprehension of these unknown criminals should report it to Police.

Jenda police, further advises the business fraternity to make sure that they put in measures not only to protect their businesses but also the people working for them.
