Yandura Chipeta has been appointed as Executive Director of the ActionAid Malawi with effect from April 22, 2024.
Her appointment follows a rigorous executive search process that ActionAid Malawi Board of Directors began in November 2023.
Ms. Chipeta held various roles at ActionAid Malawi, including Head of Business Development, Grants Management and Communication, Interim Head of Programmes, and Programme Specialist for Accountability and Public Services among other roles prior to her departure for further studies in 2022.
She brings over 14 years of experience working in international development, with extensive experience working on gender responsive public services, economic justice, women’s rights, child rights and protection, public policy analysis and fundraising.
Ms. Chipeta holds a Master of Arts Degree in Governance, Development and Public Policy with Distinction from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. Through her studies she gained practical and theoretical knowledge on the intersection of politics, development, and public policy and their interaction with policy making and implementation to achieve socially just sustainable development. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree obtained in 2009 from the University of Malawi.
