Lingazi Police Station in Lilongwe has arrested a 36 year old man who is also a roaming plastic bottle collector identified as Patrick James for allegedly sodomizing an 18 year old boy, a street connected youth on the pretext of giving him a shelter.
James, met the 18 year old boy in Mchesi Market, where the boy was also collecting some plastic bottles.
The boy lived in the street after his father chased and denied him. The suspect offered him shelter at an unfinished house he was also sleeping unlicensed.
Just after he moved in the following night the boy was amazed to see James removing his clothes. When he noticed about his strange behavior, James threatened the boy’s life he dared to shout.
In the morning the boy was traumatized by the pain the boy decided to leave, a decision he later canceled after James told him to never repeat it.
The boy on Tuesday, 23 April, 2024 made up his mind and left after James attempted to sodomize him again when they were on the way to Kanengo to sell bottles.
A well-wisher who is also a pastor helped the boy and took him to Lingadzi Police Station.
Billy Chimbonga, Station’s Officer-in Charge, Assistant Commissioner at Lingadzi Police Station sent his detectives to go and catch James the same night.
A hospital report confirms that the boy was sodomized.
James hails from Maketeketa village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba district, and will be taken to court today.
