In Machinga, some primary school teachers have stormed the district education office to deliver a petition demanding explanations on the reasons behind a sudden increase in their monthly welfare contributions that are deducted from their accounts.
One of the teachers said the contributions have been raised from K1000 to K3000 monthly without consultations, a thing that has been effected this April.
The teachers are demanding the reversal of the decision and the release of financial report on how the funds are used.
The disgruntled teachers have also asked for consultations before such decisions are made.
