Deputy Police spokesperson, Miracle Hauli, reported that police in Kasungu have arrested a 23-year-old man, Lonjezo Banda, for allegedly attempting to rob motorcycle kabaza operators by impersonating a police officer.

The suspect, along with an accomplice, reportedly stood at Chitete location along the M18 road, stopping motorcycle kabaza operators and attempting to forcibly take money from them.

Acting on a tip, kabaza operators mobilized themselves and managed to apprehend Banda while his accomplice fled the scene.

Upon arrest, Banda was found in possession of a sharp knife and a hammer, which he allegedly used to threaten the motorcycle taxi operators during the robbery attempt.

Lonjezo Banda, who hails from Chitete Village in Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu District, now faces charges related to impersonation and attempted robbery.
