Edwin K Chonde has become talk of the town after showcasing his magical acting in a new music video of Malawi’s Reggae-Dancehall artist Sean Morgan.
Edwin who took the play of Mr Mboba in the music video, is now trending on social media and everyone seems to start loving his art.
But who is Edwin K Chonde?
Chonde is a Malawian actor based in Lilongwe at Chilinde Township. He is married and a father of two children.
Chonde started his art of acting when he was very young living with his parents in Blantyre and he was casted as prodigal son in Sunday school plays.
When Chonde grew up, he went to William Murry Secondary School in Lilongwe where he was introduced to scripted productions during the national schools drama festivals after appreciating his talent.
His art was highly received as he took his acting baby steps complemented his natural passion for storytelling.
Among his inspirations, Chonde appreciates Malawi Broadcasting Corporations drama production Theatre of the Air, actors such as Charles Severe, Du Chisiza Jnr, Chipiliro Matiya and Frank Patani Mwase as being the forces that helped light his acting career path.
The 54 year-old actor, has been featured in a number of top Malawian film productions, including Fatsani, A Tale of Survival, Highbrow, The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, Sowing Seeds, Lilongwe and Virginity Policy.
Chonde, has also being featured in different Malawian music videos like, “Mutani” By Suffix, “No” by Liwu and Cozizwa and this recent track from Sean Morgan “Idzakwana”
Despite being a successful Actor, Chonde is a professional Secondary school teacher.
Having starred in other people’s productions for some time, Chonde dreams to direct his own movie.
