The newly formed Peoples Development Party (PDP) which is owned by former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South (DPP) Kondwani Nankhumwa is set to hold its elective conference this year ahead of the 2025 polls.

PDP interim Secretary General Simeon Phiri confirmed of the development in a statement announcing the formation of PDP seen by this publication.

According to Phiri, currently the party is having interim leaders led by leader of opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa was fired from the opposition DPP few months ago for allegedly attending a National Governing Council (NGC) meeting which was converned by former DPP Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey.

He was fired together with Zomba Chisi MP Mark Bottomani.
