“Growing up, people always told me I would be nothing. I know what I am here for. However, I knew I had ‘something’ but didn’t think it would be this big. I left home when I was 16, and until today, no matter how hard life was out there, I never packed up and returned home,” she said.
Before her thrust into the limelight, she worked as a debt collector for four years. However, she later switched the floor to entertainment. She had her shot to fame when she started performing at Durban’s Eyadini Lounge. Her dance moves and skimpy outfits attracted the attention of fans, and she became popular.
Against the backdrop of her newfound fame, Zodwa Wabantu started performing at popular establishments, including Rock Club in Soweto. She went on to join Afrotainment, a record label owned by DJ Tira. Since then, she has been winning big.
She has earned a fortune from her impressive business portfolio, as well as from bookings. She is undoubtedly a jill of all trades and has several income streams to show for it.
