Jenda Police in Mzimba district have arrested two men for cultivating Indian hemp without permits at Vibangalala in the district.

The two men have been identified as Julius Zgambo 27 and Alfred Zimba 22.The two hail from Vibangalala area, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district.

Macfaren Mseteka spokesperson for Jenda Police, said Zgambo was found to have cultivated 350 plants of cannabis, he was also found with 2 kilograms of loose cannabis, whilst Zimba was found with 100 plants of cannabis in his garden

Mseteke said upon request, the two failed to produce permits authorizing them to cultivate the said Indian hemp prompting police to effect their arrest.

Zgambo and Zimba have been charged with cultivating and being found in possession of Indian hemp without licence while samples of the seized Indian hemp will be sent at Lunyangwa research station in Mzuzu for analysis.
