Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that a man identified as Salinan Nkhoma in in Police custody in Mponela for allegedly writing words carrying offensive insults on social media platform against President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.
Nkhoma is suspected to have made a comment on a picture of President Chakwera seeming to be dancing on Tik Tok carrying offensive language on 5th May, 2024 on Mponela Hotspot WhatsApp forum, the words which did not go well with other members of the forum.
MCP members were alerted and in sooner, they mobilized themselves to go to Sainani Nkhoma’s house at around 7;30 pm on Tuesday night to arrest him and brought him before police officers at Mponela where a statement was recorded and was locked into custody.
Mponela Police Station’s Publicist Macpatson Msadala said he need to be given more time before he will respond to the media.
The suspect, Sainani Nkhoma hails from Chikuti 3 village in the area of Inkosi Mponela in the district.
