He was speaking during the touring of MAREP phase 9 project in Machinga district with the members of parliament and natural resources and climate change
Meanwhile, Chairperson for the Committee, Welani Chilenga hopes the development will boost economic activities in rural areas.
“Many people in the country rely on electricity for their daily activities, so the coming in of MAREP phase 9 project will improve the economic activities in rural areas”. said
He further warned Malawians to stop vandalizing ESCOM’s property, describing it as a setback in the development of the country.
However, Group Village Headman Nanda of the area of Senior Chief Chamba in the district has described the coming of electricity in his area as a huge development.
He says this has reduced distances which people used to travel to access milling services, among others.
