Police in Chitipa District are keeping in custody a form one student at Natu Private Secondary School,Eunice Phiri,18, of Chimwala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimwala in Mangochi District for allegedly stabbing to death her 21-year-old boyfriend who was in form two student, France Mwalwanda.
The incident occurred on 12th May ,2024 at Illema trading centre in the district.
Reports indicate that the two were in love affair and left their school for the said place to withdraw money at the Airtel Money agent.
After withdrawing the money,they started drinking beer and later on disagreements erupted between them when the girl was denying to listen advice from her boyfriend of going back to school campus.
Then Mwalwanda was the first to take a knife from the near-by roasting meat bench to scare his girlfriend so that she could accept the advice to return to school campus.
The two started tussling for the knife ending up the girl snatching a knife from his boyfriend and stabbed him at the back.
He was rushed to Chitipa District Hospital for examination and treatment where he died while receiving treatment.
Postmortem results showed that death was due to severe bleeding.
France Mwalwanda hailed from Mwenelupembe Village in the area of Paramount Chief Kyungu in Karonga district.
