Illegal Gold Miner Dies In Kasungu

A 20 year old man has died after a mine collapsed on him when he was looking for gold deposits in kambira River Kasungu District.

Spokesperson for Kasungu Police, Joseph Kachikho has confirmed the death and identified the deceased as Jefita Kaphamtengo who hailed from Madziada Village Traditional Authority Wimbe in the district.

According to kachikho, before meeting his fate, Jefita went with his friend to the river to dig gold in tunnel.

In the process, rocks collapsed on him and his fried tried much to rescue him from the trap but failed.

The body of Jefita, was later found lifeless due to suffocation and was taken to hospital for medical postmortem.
