Jenda Police Station has reported a significant decrease in crime and road accidents in the first quarter of 2024, with a 43% reduction in overall crime and a 27.1% decline in criminal cases.
According to Jenda Police spokesperson MacFarlane Mseteka, the station recorded 121 criminal cases and 9 road accidents between January and April, compared to 166 cases and 16 accidents during the same period last year.
Conquering with the publicist, The Officer-In-Charge, Greadwick Mangadzi, attributed the success to effective policing strategies, including increased visibility, patrols, and community engagement. However, he warned against corruption and vowed to take action against any malpractices.
The Station Executive Committee (SEC) chairperson, Kakwiza Shaba, commended the police’s efforts and pledged continued support in the fight against crime. Notable successes include the recovery of stolen money and the apprehension of notorious criminals.
Traditional leaders praised the station’s progress and requested strategies to address mobile money fraudsters impersonating police officers.
