Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has been told by her grandchildren to abandon her dressing and mimic the dressing and hair style of rising entertainment content creator-cum musician, Jetu, real name Christina Kholiyo.

The former President confirmed of the development in a statement posted on her official facebook page seen by this publication.

“Our 8th daughter Dr Kambe Banda Zgambo is at Cape Town University specializing. The children are here in Malawi with their father Dr David Zgambo. Yesterday they came to visit me. My grandson Uwemi Zgambo is 8 years old and my granddaughter Ngina Zgambo is 5 years old.

“During our chat they asked me if I had watched “JETU”. I said no. Kalekale aitola phone yanga. Before I knew it they were singing along with the video clip of the song on my phone. Ufuna cha!! Unandisiya manja alinkhosi, lero ndazitolera. The song goes all the way alowa fisi, etc etc. at the end of the day they invited me to their house today for tea. I have just returned to my residence. We had a great time at their home as you may see from the photos,” wrote Banda.

She added: “What I didn’t know is that they invited me so that I can watch Jetu on their full size TV Screen. I am attaching photos of Mama Ngina serving me tea as per her invitation. My greatest challenge now is that zathera kuchiwisi. They now want me to do three things and that is where I will need help from Mai Jetu.

“They want me to learn to dance like Jetu. They want me to dye my hair red. They want me to wear trousers. They claim that Jetu is only two years younger than me and yet she is a great dancer. How come I just wear dukus and funny clothes and not trouser suits. Ngina even showed me how Jetu walks accompanied by her bouncers wearing tracksuit. Ngina even showed me how Jetu dances.”

“The final question was how can I be a girl president and not be able to do half the things Jetu does.”

JB has since promised to meet Jetu to ask for help on the request of her grandchildren.

“I have promised Ngina and Uwemi that next time Jetu has a show in Lilongwe tizapempha kuti tikaonane nawo tikapemphe nzeru. As for now akuti ndadya 0 pa 10,” she added.
