The National Youth Council of Malawi (Nycom) has launched a K100 million grant which aims at empowering youths in the country to start cooperatives.
The development has come during the commissioning of NYCOM strategic plan consultation meeting with youth in Mzuzu city.
Speaking in an interview with the Executive Director, Rex Chapota confirmed the development as the best way to empower the youth to rely on cooperatives that will help themselves since their issues have been side lined for a long period of time.
“I would like to adopt a turn-around strategy because many issues concerning the youth in the country have been side lined for a long period of time” chapota said
He further said that, the program will involve many youth to move into the activities that foster national development.
However, on the formulation of the new strategic plan, Chapota said they did not have a strategic plan for four years which made them fail to do activities aimed at helping youths in the country to take part in developmental activities.
