A local NGO, Our Aim Foundation, has stepped up efforts to empower more women in Mchinji with necessary skills for them to become economically independent and free from ravaging poverty.

Its Assistant Country Director Prince Lokendo Said they are supporting underprivileged communities particularly women with essential resources, skills and infrastructure “to ensure the well-being and prosperity of every individual’.

Lukendo said this during the graduation of the first cohort of 15 women who are trained in tailoring and computing.

One of the beneficiaries from the initiative Eunice Banda said that she has already secured a job and hails organization for striving to make communities better.

Among others the Foundation providers meals, boreholes, sanitary pads and restrooms to women and girls.

It also constructed two hospitals in Tongozala and Mbewa Village in Traditional Authority Mkanda in the district.
