The Malawi Against Physical Disabilities (MAP) has taken an action on the needs of children with disabilities to return to school as one way of safeguarding their rights.

Speaking during the assessment conducted by the organization at Chambe School Ground in Mulanje, MAP Regional Supervisor for the South, Peter Mchilima said that disability is not inability and that and every child has right to association, education and health.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for the area Ebbie Mathanda urged people to avoid locking children with disabilities in their homes and always seek medical help at hospitals.

“It’s dangerous to keep disabled people indoor, let them interact and accept one another in the society,” she said.

MAP says the assessment will help to provide the right mobility aids to the people with disabilities based on their challenges.
