Several workers’ unions in the country have joined hands with healthy workers asking the government to increase their allowances and other benefits.

For the past weeks, the health workers have been at loggerheads with the Ministry of Health over the government’s delay to implement approved revised allowances.

In a joint statement, the unions argue that the health workers and all workers in the country deserve decent pay.

National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives, Physicians Assistants Union of Malawi (Paum) and other health workers bodies have been threatening to hold nationwide strike.

Meanwhile, Paum president Solomon Chomba said they are yet to get any feedback from the government on their demands
