A 32-year-old foreign national has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Sasko truck driver, who was shot and killed during an armed robbery in Delft last week in South Africa.

The suspect has been identified as Martin Mugayi who is from Zimbabwe.
Police have arrested Mugayi on Tuesday afternoon in a nearby township and he is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.

According to the video which has gone viral on internet, the truck driver and his two colleagues were ambushed by three gunmen while making deliveries in the area. The driver was shot and killed, while his colleagues managed to escape with minor injuries.

The police have confirmed that the suspect was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition, which is believed to be linked to the crime.

The community has welcomed the swift arrest, saying it brings them closer to closure. “We are relieved that the perpetrator has been caught and will face justice,” said a local resident.

The police are still investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, Sasko expressed condolences to the family of the deceased driver and commended the police for their swift action. “We are grateful for the efforts of the South African Police Service in apprehending the suspect and bringing them to justice,” said a spokesperson.

The suspect’s is an Illegal Zimbabwean Martin Mugayi & he was identified on a bus trying to run home to Zimbabwe.
