Farmers in Karonga District have been warned to end the practice of drying their rice on the sidewalks of the M1 Road.
The warning has come as most of the farmers have started harvesting their Rice in the district and it is common to be drying the yield on the road side walks
Speaking in an interview with Karonga District Council Chairperson, Misheck Mwaijengo said the practice is very common along the Karonga Town-Songwe Boarder which is very risk to people who use the road as it can cause accidents
Karonga, Phalombe, Zomba, Nkhatabay, Nkhotakota and Salima are some of the top rice producing districts in the country.
