A 22-year-old man, who was a Kabaza Cyclist, has died after being hit by a car at the Weighbridge in Muloza on the M2 road from Mulanje to Muloza.

Mulanje police deputy spokesperson, Sergeant Leah Chagomerana, has confirmed the accident and identified the deceased as Yohane Chikomoni.

According to Chagomerana, the truck involved in the accident is a type of Freight Liner Truck whose number is NN2147/MJ8264 and was driven by a 35-year-old man, Leonard Diza who hails from the village of Namaona chief Njema in the same district of Mulanje.

Reports say that the car was coming from the Mulanje state and was going to the Muloza border.

When it arrived at the weighing station in Muloza, the car suddenly Chikomoni who was heading towards the border.

Following the accident, Chikomoni suffered severe head injuries and died shortly after arriving at the Mulanje hospital, and the bike was completely destroyed.

Yohane Chikomoni hailed from the village of Mtambalika, chief Njema in Mulanje district.
