The Greenbelt Authority has announced plans to partner with strategic partners to boost sugar production and expand its operations.
This announcement comes after the government’s decision in December 2023, facilitated by the Greenbelt Authority (GBA), to end its partnership with AUM sugar and Allied Limited of India at the Salima Sugar Company Limited due to contract breaches.
Chief Executive Officer of the Greenbelt Authority, Eric Chidzungu, said that within the next two weeks, the authority aims to finalize shareholding agreements with approximately five local and international companies across various value chains.
“Greenbelt is considered a national asset, the authority seeks to attract more investors to enhance production” said Chidzungu.
