President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has said he will contest for the post of President in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) at the elective conference set for August this this year.
Chakwera declared the interest at a rally held at Ndauka Primary School Ground in the capital Lilongwe.
In his speech Chakwera said that once elected at the convention he will contest for President in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
He also urged party top officials not to bar anyone will to contest for any post in the party including that of the President.
Chakwera said he is ready for the polls.
