Mighty Mukuru Wanderers president and board chairperson Thomson Mpinganjira says the team has failed to prove that it can compete in a CAF inter-club tournament this year.

Following the two defeats to silver strikers and Mzuzu city Hamers in the TNM League by 2-0 margins, which led to the resignation of head coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, Mpinganjira said nomads are far from being ready for the continental stage

“I think we are not ready to compete with the elite, based on performance and the results from the matches that have already played. If we are struggling on the local level, then we would be banking on a miracle to perform at that level.

“There is a lot that needs to be done to stabilize the team because the current performance is not satisfying, so it will not happen, definitely not this year” he said

Meanwhile, Nomads technical director Yasin Osman said Mpinganjira could not do have put it any better.

“We are far from being ready for the CAF tournament, the teams needs to improve on performance which will bring to good results because we seem to lost our way and to join the tournament it would be a waste of resources” he said

The team’s participation in the confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup would have depend on the team’s performance between the start of the season and the tournament’s registration period

Bullets are the only local team that have been taking part in CAF tournaments in the last five years, getting past the first hurdle only on
