Information reaching this publication indicates that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the United Transformation Movement (UTM) is is today scheduled to hold an emergency meeting in the capital Lilongwe.
The emergency meeting follows a declaration made by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera yesterday in Lilongwe, saying that he will seek re-election on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
The statement by Chakwera has attracted anger among UTM supporters including top officials who were hoping that its President Dr. Saulos Chilima will lead the Tonse Alliance in the forthcoming polls.
It is said that Chilima and Chakwera agreed that each one of them will rule this country for one term and pave way for the other.
