Five people have been arrested in Nkhotakota district in connection to the brutal murder of three people at Bua bridge early last month.

Nkhotakota Police Station Spokesperson, Paul Malimwe, has identified the suspects as Timothy Medi aged 19, Enoch Phiri aged 24, Gabriel Fiza, 32, Kondwani Mlauzi aged 28 and 21-year-old Robert Samuel.

He says the five were allegedly involved in the murder of a motorcycle operator, Masauko Phiri and two passengers, Edwin Chirwa and Eliza Mtonga who had hired the motorcycle to Pendwe village from Dwangwa in the district.

“It is believed that upon arrival at Bua bridge, the suspects stole the motorcycle and a bag of maize before assaulting the victims leaving them with multiple cut wounds”, he said.
