The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) has started its implementation of constructing ICT labs in some schools across the country to help to reduce the digital skills gap between students in urban and rural communities.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of an ICT lab at Phokera CDSS in Nsanje, Director of IT at Macra, Steven Pelete said the facilities will introduce students to the digital tools, digital skills and expand their digital experience.

Meanwhile, Nsanje Lalanje lawmaker Gladys Ganda commended Macra for the support.

Macra is implementing the project with financial support from the Universal Service Fund.
