Tremaine Deon Carroll, a 51-year-old transgender individual, was initially held in a women’s prison after being charged with rape.

Carroll, who identifies as a trans woman, was moved to a men’s cell after raping a female cellmate in the restroom.

The attack allegedly occurred at the Central California Women’s facility, where Carroll was being held.

Carroll had previously been accused of three counts of “oral copulation” but those charges were dropped.

The transgender inmate is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds. California legislation allows transgender inmates to be housed in a facility that matches their gender identity.

Carroll had been making sexual advances towards the female cellmate, known as Jane Doe, before attacking her in the restroom.

Jane Doe reported that Carroll wrote her explicit letters and approached her multiple times before the attack.

Despite her repeated rejections, Carroll allegedly attacked her in the restroom. Carroll has been moved to a men’s cell following the incident.
