An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident in which a contractor lost his life while working on a 33-kilovolt overhead power line at Nakambala Estate in Mazabuka.

Zambia Sugar’s Corporate Affairs Director,Eugene Chungu has announced that production operations, previously suspended due to the incident, will resume this Wednesday.

He said the company prioritizes safety, and a safety standdown was conducted across all sites.

Chungu extends condolences to the deceased’s family and friends and offers full support.

And the World Environment Day celebration originally planned for Nakambala Estate has been relocated to St Edmund’s Secondary School in light of the tragedy.
