Mponela police in Dowa have arrested five people for allegedly stealing a geneset valued at K25 million belonging to China Jianxia a company that is doing the rehabilitation works on M1 road from Lilongwe to Kasungu.
Mponela police spokesperson Macpatson Msadala said that the alleged theft occurred on May, 9 2024 Namwiri bridge along Lilongwe Kasungu M1 Road where the equipment was being kept and the suspects, have been at large.
He added that on the day the five who were armed with Panga knives attacked the guards before accomplishing their mission.
