Leadership with Compassion Party (LCP) Shadow Councillor for Chilaweni Ward Lucius Kasonya has promised to push for development in the area once elected in the forthcoming by-elections.
Kasonya said this during a campaign rally organized by LCP at Chilaweni Primary School which saw multitudes of people in attendance.
Also present were the party’s Secretary General Henry Selemani, regional governor Lenard Mphidza, the party Shadow Councillor for Mwansa Ward in Mangochi Edson Mpaso and other top officials.
In his speech, Kasonya urged people from Chilaweni Ward to go and register with the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for their voter’s registration certificate in the registration exercise which is scheduled to commence today ahead of by-elections on July 23, 2024.
“You the people of this area [Malunga Village] have long been crying for development because of wrong candidature choices to represent you at the Blantyre City Council (BCC) Chambers. You have always been voting ‘anthu obwela’ outsiders but now time has come for you to correct your voting mistakes by voting for right people to represent you. That is why I am here.
“Once elected i will make-sure that people in this area have safe water by pushing more boreholes around Malunga Village,” said Kasonya.
Kasonya also hailed the Party leadership under President Dr. Sally Kumwenda for the support being rendered to him.
He then urged the people of the area to support the party President in the forthcoming 2025 polls if they are to enjoy meaningful development.
“Enawa tawayesa ndipo alephela.” We have tried others but they have all failed us. In 2025 polls it’s time to try new people in the political arena in particular our female aspiring president Dr. Sally Kumwenda,” Said Kasonya attracting ululations from the people who gathered at the venue.
MEC will hold by-elections in the area following the death of the councillor of the ward.
