President Lazarus Chakwera has directed that the nation observes a period of 21 days of mourning in honour of late Vice-President Saulos Chilima and others who died in a plane crash.

The mourning period will run from June 11 to July 1, 2024.

Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet (SPC) Colleen Zamba has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.

According to Zamba, “the President has also directed that all flags be flown at half-mast throughout the period of mourning”.

Meanwhile, the funeral program is yet to be released.
