Remains of Deputy Chief of Protocol Abdul Lapken have been collected from Sunset Funeral Home in Lilongwe for burial in Mangochi.

Lapken was killed in a plane crash alongside Vice President Saulos Chilima and seven others.

Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu stated that Lapken, being Muslim, requires burial on the same day of death.

“This is the time for mourning as the country has lost our beloved people. The committee handling funeral arrangements is meeting at the OPC, and updates will be provided,” Kunkuyu said.

This burial ceremony will be followed by another one for Captain Flora Selemani Ngwirinji, who was the pilot of the plane, tomorrow at her home village, Kosalika in Thyolo.

Funeral details of Chilima and others will be updated soon.
