Police in Nsanje have arrested a 27 year old man for allegedly murdering one of the businesspersons at Fatima Trade Centre in the district.
Spokesperson for Nsanje Police Agnes Zalakoma has confirmed the arrest and identified the murder suspect as Nelson Zanela.
According to Zalakoma, the suspect stabbed the businessperson Francis Kalenso to death on December 15, 2023, at the Trade Centre and had been on the run since then.
“It is reported that the suspect went into Kalenso’s shop where he allegedly stole one packet of surf valued at K500.00. The businessman confronted him which angered the suspect who stabbed the businessman in the left ribs with a sharp knife,” explained Sub-Inspector Zalakoma.
She says the suspect, who hails from Nalisoni village, Traditional Authority Mlolo in the district, is in police custody pending court proceedings to answer a murder charge.
