Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) has joined calls for investigation to circumstances that led to the crashing of the plane carrying State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and 8 others in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba District.
The calls come amid rumours that some Malawians claim that the whole incident was staged.
In a statement seen by this publication dated June 13, 2024, AFORD President Enoch Chihana has asked the government to declare the place where the plane crashed as a crime scene and should be guarded.
Chihana has also asked the African Union (EU), SADC and the international Community also to institute an independent forensic audit surrounding the plane crash and the death of Chilima.
According to Chihana, if this is properly done it will help clear out some speculations among Malawians.
