Government through the Immigration Department has decided to repatriate 238 Ethiopian citizens who are being held in prisons in the northern region.
The spokesman for the department in the northern region Sergeant Francis Chitambuli has confirmed the development and said those Ethiopian nationals entered the country illegally which is against section 21(1) of the immigration laws.
Chitambuli said that the International Organization for Migration is the one that has given money to carry out the work of transporting these people to their countries.
Since January this year, the immigration office in the northern region has arrested 173 foreign nationals for violating immigration laws and of this number, 142 nationals are from Ethiopia.
