As the Lilongwe city council is expected to hold Mayoral election in the next Tuesday, city’s Mayor Richard Banda has acquired a Court Injuction against the elections.

The injuction indicates that the Mayor wants the judicial review before he councils holds the elections.

Meanwhile, In a memo, the Council’s Chief Executive Officer Macloud Kadam’manja says the last elections happened on December 22, 2021.

Yesterday, the council’s spokesperson Tamara Chafunya confirmed that the elections were scheduled for Tuesday next week following the end of term for the position of mayor.
