Tonse Alliance members, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and People’s Party (PP), have expressed their gratitude for the appointment of United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Michael Usi, better known as Manganya in entertainment circles, as Vice President of Malawi.
According to a PP spokesperson Kalaile, their party is satisfied with the choice made by the Tonse Alliance partners to appoint Usi as the country’s Vice President.
In his statement, MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka said it was expected that the office of the Vice President would be occupied by a UTM member following the death of Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.
Usi has been appointed by President Lazarus Chakwera as Vice President of Malawi and will be sworn in today at the Parliament around 3 pm.
