Governance and political commentators have described the appointment of Dr Michael Usi as vice president of the country as a milestone towards democracy.
President Lazarus Chakwera yesterday appointed Usi who is also the minister of natural resources and climate change as the country’s second in command following the death of the then vice president Saulos Chilima in a plane crash in Chikangawa forest on 10 June 2024.
George Chaima says looking at the impressive records the new Veep holds he expects him to execute his duties well.
Another commentator Francis Liyati Phiri while commending the president’s choice says the move has also re-established the Tonse alliance flag.
